Urdanibia Square is the central public space of the Irun’s old town. The project recovers this emblematic place for pedestrians, establishing close relations of complicity with the pre-existing urban structures and their history. The project’s great challenge is, moreover, to enhance the large dimension of the square, very fragmented before. The square becomes a central point of green and pedestrian connectivity that links together other urban structures of the city, isolated previously, thus fostering a network system that allows a better relationship of both ecological and pedestrian communication flows.
